Welcome to The HR Rabbit Hole; or how to transform your HR from blah to cooking with gas by blatantly stealing ideas and know-how from creative disciplines like Marketing, Design and Communications.  We call it creative HR!

You know the situation. You need to keep up with the latest developments in your field. But you just can’t find the time (last year’s HR trade magazines are still on my office floor with a hopeful note saying “Read Me”).

You want to know about the current wisdom out there and who is doing cool future-focussed stuff that could inspire and help you and your business move forward. But where do you start with an ocean of information which has some great bits but is also filled with flotsam across multiple media and disciplines?

Let The HR Rabbit Hole do some of the leg-work for you.

If you are willing to journey down the rabbit hole with a mind open to inspiration from the unexpected, you will make discoveries which excite, and help you go from regular to stellar performance.  Never cookie-cutter in approach, a journey down the rabbit hole explores a different take on the usual, makes uncommon connections and presents snack-sized morsels of interestingness with practical use, delivered fresh to you every week.In future blog posts, I share tips stolen from the ‘Creatives’ and sneak peeks into Creative HR work in progress.  Sometimes, I will throw in personal riffs on current topics, metaphorical ‘brain pokes’ and Eureka! Moments. You are invited to read through them, comment please, as this positively contributes to the transformation process.

This blog is unashamedly subjective, definitely reflective, and slightly cheeky with an occasional fun take on the usual. Now if I manage to combine a few more of things I love –  food, travel, and shoes (OK, this last one might be a bit tricky) - then I would achieve HR alchemy!

The goal is not to promote blind consensus-fan-following or ill thought-out uncivil disagreement; but rather to encourage intelligent and meaningful dialogue, and inspired thought on how to do things differently.  If we are lucky, this journey will result in interesting collaborations, positive action and change for the better!

See you down the rabbit hole…
